Have your cake

Cake stands can be the hardest part of doing cake centerpieces - what to use, how will it look after the cake has been enjoyed, etc. My solution is to invert a glass cylinder vase filled with flowers to use as the cake base.

Add more glass containers and blooms and you have a complete look...cake, flowers, height and candle light. I used red orchids for this look along with containers I have available for rental. The best cake vendor out there, Queen of Cakes, provided the gorgeous (and tasty) cake. Thanks to Terri for her creation!!!

With so many containers available, you can mix and match the options to suit your centerpiece vision. Piece of cake!

A vision of beauty

A bride with a vision is a beautiful thing. My client, Jen, came to meet me about one year to day in advance of her winter wedding at the Landmark Center with a wonderful idea of a bare tree covered with crystals and red roses. My contribution was to be the flowers and Jen was determined to take care of everything else despite living out of state - such devotion to the vision!!!

Here is the final look - breathtaking...

The bridal bouquet took cue from the centerpieces and was monochromatic study of texture - roses mixed with mini calla lilies and fern shoots.

Sally Jorgensen from La Vie took these amazing shots and I hear that Minnesota Bride thought it was a beautiful vision as well. Look for these shots to appear in their July 2009 issue.
