Ribbon inspiration

A small detail on Anna's dress inspired me - it was a patterned ribbon in shades of green on the sash of her eyelet gown. So precious!!! I immediately thought we needed to use those shades of green to inspire the flowers - the end result was flowers in all shades of green (and a few whites ones too!) and all wrapped up with different green ribbons.

Pause...

We are in the thick of wedding season now, but I wanted to take a minute to pause and reflect on some of the beautiful things created in my studio in the past few months. When things settle down and the professional shots start coming in, I will post more about each one. But for now, just enjoy...

Twisted Callas and Lush Peonies

Classic design with a twist. Full and lush white peony bouquets and centerpieces of twisted calla lilies. Bella Photography captured these shots from Marie and Tom's recent wedding. Marie was so lovely to work with and I loved the way the bouquets and centerpieces turned out - what a fun wedding!!!

Marie found monogram broaches for each of her maids!

Coral Continued...

My coral flower bride, Alicia, just sent me more pictures from her fabulous wedding!!! I love all the coral flowers with the blue dresses - I predict that will be a new color trend!!!

Delicate flowers

For her dream wedding, Lynn wanted unique and delicate blooms. That led us to choose green toned flowers in some of the season's most precious of flowers - anemones, hellebore, ranunculus, parrot tulips and viburnum.

I used a new flower called 'Green Trick' for a unique boutonniere when pared with a green mum and berry.

Lucky Peonies

My mom always says that brides who get peonies for their wedding day are the luckiest of all! Erica was one such lucky bride and she picked my favorite color combination for peonies - white and pale pink. Just beautiful! To add just a little more over the top, I added white lilac blooms to the mix. This complimented her centerpieces - white blooms with fresh green accents, like a mini garden on the guests' tables.

Best of luck to Erica and Tim!

Soft side of spring

I love spring flowers and I love soft, subtle color palettes. For Emily and Matt's wedding we used viburnum, tulips and ranunculus in the cutest, little posy bouquets. Love the final look and I love Emily in her dress - just as classy as the bride!

Donna's flowers

A very dear friend of our family passed away a few weeks ago and I wanted to share the funeral tributes I designed especially for her.

Thank you Donna for all the support and always treating Henry and Lucy like your own. We all will miss you!

Peachy Blooms

Wedding season is in full bloom and I recently did a beautiful wedding inspired by the color "peach". You can call it orange, apricot, coral, salmon...whatever, just call it beautiful when you match all these colors together!!! I love this palette and it was such a fun wedding to do - thank you Alicia and Nick!

Simple and elegant with tulips

I couldn't have asked for a better clients than Elizabeth and Rob, so sweet and thoughtful, I was thrilled to design for them. Elizabeth loves tulips and picked the right month to get married for great tulips. April is really the best time for tulips because you can count on it being cool enough to keep them in their beautiful bud stage for a while. Elizabeth also had a great color scheme - black and white with a little splash of classic red.

I also loved the venues - Harriet Island and the McNamara Center on the U of M campus are amazing spaces!!!

The centerpieces were my favorite part of the day - the large glass bowls showcased the tulips' natural way of bending while adding candlelight from a floating candle

For the professional photos from Elizabeth and Rob's amazing day, check out Ali's blog at http://alisonleaweddings.blogspot.com/2009/04/april-4-2009-party.html

Ali (as usual) did an outstanding job of capturing this couple on their first day of what is sure to be an amazing life together!! Best wishes to the happy couple!
